Monks collecting daily food, Luang Probang Laos

After a 14 hour overnight bus from Huay Xai we arrived in Luang Probang, North Laos before dawn at 5.30am.
The journey was a twisting journey through the mountains and past lots of little villages. As we set off at dusk it was great to see the traditional bamboo huts & the simple village life that is ever present in Laos.
We had arrived just in time to see the dawn procession of Monks collecting alms of rice from the villagers.

We were truly amazed by how many monks there was and its was really amazing to see.

The Monks collects sticky rice from the locals which is placed in to their collecting pot by the villagers.

You can see how far they go on with most of the Monks being quite young.
The Monks are often from poor families and becoming a Monk allows them to get a better education.

These Monks banged the drums at 4 o'clock every day sounded great!
